Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine, Bora Bora

The wonders of Tahiti and its peoples have inspired hundreds of South Pacific novels. After sailing Raiatea, Huahine, and Bora Bora, you'll understand why. Anchor in turquoise lagoons, sheltered by palm fringed motus; dinghy ashore for the vanilla groves, bamboo forests, and a warm Tahitian welcome.

Cost will include a luxurious 40-50 foot yacht for four to eight people, taxes, cruising fees, most meals, and the flotilla party. To customize your itinerary, air and hotel arrangements are not included. Private charters welcome at the normal yacht rate plus $200 for flotilla expenses.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Chart and boat briefing. Raise sails for Ile Maheae (1) for snorkeling and wandering around in bliss. Anchor at Baie Haamene (2) for a Tahitian feast. (S, F, H)

Day 2: Sail to a quiet motu (3), tour Tahaa, or visit a vanilla plantation for an unparalleled botanical tour. Stay in Baie Hurepiti (4) for the night.

Day 3: An easy five hour sail to the Bora Bora lagoon. Visit Motu Toopua (5) for fabulous snorkeling and a sunset barbeque.

Day 4: Hike for spectacular vistas, circle the island by moped, watch a shark feeding frenzy, or hide out in a remote motu. (S, F, H)

Day 5: Full sail back to Raiatea. Watch the outriggers at sunset in Faaroa Bay (6). (S, F, H)

Day 6: Venture to the ruins of Opoa (7). A dinghy ride up the Aoppamoa River jungle (8) is a journey that should not be missed.

Day 7: Depart early for a a six hour windward passage to Huahine, once a center of polynesian culture. Anchor and go ashore at Fare village (9), a true Tahitian village.

Day 8: Sail inside the reef to Port Bourayne (10) then to BAy d'Avea (11) for snorkeling, diving, or a nice hike.

Day 9: It's a downwind sail back to Tahaa. Catch a tuna or mahi mahi on the way, or go ashore for an exquisite French dinner at Apu Bay (12). (S, F, H)

Day 10: Return to the Sun Yacht Charters base (13) by 10 am, or keep sailing until the French Navy catches you and forces you to stay in this island paradise!

To enhance your experience go diving, fishing, horseback riding, and visit a Tahitian dance.

Farmer's Market (14) is best at the crack of dawn Wed., Fri., and Sundays.

To take advantage of the weather or cultural events, the flotilla coordinator may alter the itinerary. You may add extra charter days.

Special Notes:

Our flotilla welcomes individuals, couples, and private groups. The lead boat will have a licensed captain and room for 4-8 sailors or non-sailors. All other boats will have a competent skipper and at least 1 competent crew member. Private charters stay with the flotilla or sail off at your leisure. ASA BAreboat chartering certifications are available with prior notice.

Prices are based on 4-6 crew members at double occupancy. This trip includes cancellation insurance, security insurance, most meals, moorage, feul, 2 preparation parties. . .prices can only be guaranteed upon deposit of $200 per boat, berth or stateroom.

The boats will be fully equipped, electric anchor windlass, dinghy, outboard, CD players, full linen. 3-4 berths (double occ.) sleeping 5-10. We keep it comfortable with 4-8 passengers max.

Dining: The split provisioning plan includes all breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, plus 5-6 dinners. Yacht have complete galley and stern barbeques. Dining ashore is available at many locations.

Private Charterers Welcome! Looking for discounts, but not company - No Problem! Meet at the mid-charter party or sail away, we'll see you on the flight home. The cost depends on the season, size of the boat, and the crew. Call for details.
